Are Squishy Dumplings Discontinued? Why They Sell Out
No, squishy dumplings are not discontinued. They’re just wildly popular and hard to keep on a shelf. There have also been two real recalls in 2026, one in the UK and one in the US, but both were narrow, product specific safety issues, not a shutdown of the toy itself. You can still buy a genuine one in stock today.
No, they’re not discontinued
Discontinued means a company stopped making something. That’s not what’s happening here. Brands keep releasing new colors, mystery editions, and rare drops, and the toy keeps selling. The actual problem is the opposite of discontinued: demand outran supply the moment this thing went viral, and stores haven’t caught up since.
Why are squishy dumplings always sold out?
A few things are stacking on top of each other.
- It blew up on TikTok. Unboxing and squeeze videos turned a cheap novelty toy into a must have collectible almost overnight. A fresh shipment can clear out within hours of hitting the shelf.
- Stores only stock a little at a time. Discount and variety retailers allot limited shelf space to any single trend item, so even a restock is a small batch.
- The rare editions go first. Glitter, galaxy, and mystery box versions disappear before the plain colors do, which leaves picked over bins for everyone else.
- Resellers buy in bulk. Because the toy sells out, some buyers grab several to resell at a markup, which thins out what’s left for everyone shopping in store.
None of that means production stopped. It means catching one on a store shelf comes down to luck and timing.
There have been two real recalls, but neither one shuts down the toy
This part matters, because some of the “are they discontinued” searches are probably downstream of recall headlines, and it’s worth being precise about what those recalls actually covered.
In June 2026, the UK’s Office for Product Safety and Standards recalled a product called Squeezy Dumplings, sold by a Cardiff wholesaler, Samsons Cash and Carry Ltd. Testing found benzene in the outer layer at roughly four times the UK’s legal limit. The original branded toy that started the trend, made by RMS International, wasn’t the product in question. The issue traced back to counterfeit copies that flooded the market once demand spiked, not the genuine article.
In September 2026, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled about 8,000 units of a different product, GIHNJSI branded Squeezy Dumplings sold on Amazon by a seller called Chenyuanhui. That recall wasn’t about chemicals. Those units contained water beads, small polymer beads that swell dramatically if swallowed, which can cause serious choking and intestinal blockage in a child. No injuries had been reported at the time of the recall.
Neither recall covers every dumpling squishy on the market. Both were tied to a specific seller and a specific batch, and neither one means the category is being pulled. But they’re a genuinely useful reminder of what to check before you buy: a solid TPR dumpling squishy with no filling inside doesn’t carry a water bead risk at all, and a listing that names a real brand and material is a different thing from a generic “Squeezy Dumplings” pot with no importer information printed anywhere on it.
You can read the UK recall notice and the US recall notice directly if you want the full detail.
When does Five Below restock squishy dumplings?
There’s no published schedule, and it varies by location, so there isn’t a reliable answer to give you here. Restocks tend to be irregular and sell through within hours, which is exactly why so many people give up on the in store hunt and stop checking altogether.
How to get one without the wait
The simplest fix is to stop chasing shelves and buy from a shop that keeps stock online. That gets you:
- Guaranteed availability. What’s listed is what’s actually in stock right now.
- The design you actually want, whether that’s mystery boxes, glitter and rainbow, minis, giants, or rare editions, instead of whatever happened to arrive at a nearby store.
- Authentic material, real slow rise TPR with no mystery filling, not a knockoff copy.
- Fast shipping from the US, no month long wait on an overseas order.
The bottom line
Squishy dumplings aren’t discontinued. They’re sold out because the trend outran supply, not because anyone stopped making them. Two narrow recalls happened in 2026, over a counterfeit batch in the UK and a water bead filled batch in the US, but neither touched the genuine product as a whole. Buying from a seller who discloses the material and stands behind the product sidesteps both problems at once, the shortage and the recall risk.

Frequently asked questions
Are squishy dumplings discontinued?
No. They’re a viral product that sells out fast in physical stores and restocks unpredictably, which can make them look unavailable. You can still buy one in stock online.
Was there a squishy dumpling recall?
Yes, two separate ones in 2026. The UK recalled a counterfeit batch called Squeezy Dumplings over excess benzene in the outer layer. The US recalled a different Amazon listing over water beads inside that pose a choking risk. Neither recall covers the whole product category, just those specific sellers and batches.
Why are dumpling squishies always sold out?
They went viral, so demand outpaces the limited stock stores receive. The rarest designs sell first, and resellers buying in bulk thin out what’s left even faster.
When does Five Below restock squishy dumplings?
There’s no published restock schedule and it varies by store, so the timing isn’t predictable. Restocks tend to be irregular and sell through quickly.
Where can I get a dumpling squishy that’s in stock?
A dedicated online dumpling squishy shop keeps the full range in stock and ships fast, so you can get the exact design you want without hunting empty shelves.
